Artwork backstory

Revelstoke Mountain Resort in Revelstoke, British Columbia, Canada

Painted in 2008

If you’ve ever skied Revelstoke, or “Revy” as those in the know call it, you’ll understand why this is one of the more special ski maps James Niehues ever painted. That shouldn’t be too surprising, given that Revelstoke is a very unique mountain. It has the longest vertical drop in North America, with 5,620 vertical feet of sustained skiing. And it’s big, with over 3,000 acres of skiable terrain. And a lot of that terrain is iconic, with plenty of freeride competitions and film crews testing their mettle at this resort over the decades. Add 540” of snow every year, and you’ve got a sure recipe for epic skiing.
