Grand Targhee Ski Resort in Alta, Wyoming

Painted in 2001

Grand Targhee is often forgotten in all the hype that surrounds its more famous eastern neighbor, Jackson Hole. And that’s just fine for all the skiers and riders who call Grand Targhee home or have been visiting for years. It flies a little under the radar, but it’s got something for everyone, as long as you’re looking for fresh snow. With an average of 500” of snow per year, powder days at Targhee are plentiful. And while Targhee doesn’t have as steep or as challenging of terrain as Jackson Hole, it’s the perfect place for newer skiers still getting their legs under them to become comfortable off-piste.

Perfect focal point for new office

I just finished building a new office for my practice and I wanted to decorate one of the walls in the hallway with Niehaus paintings of ski hills that my family has skied at. The Grand Targhee painting is the perfect starting point. All my kids leaned to ski at Targhee and it is a special place. I can't wait to collect more paintings. My only disappointment is that they don't have any current paintings of Brundage Mountain, another family favorite. Hopefully sometime in the future.
