Artwork backstory

SilverStar - Putnam Creek in Vernon, British Columbia

Painted in 2013

>Located outside Vernon, BC, Silver Star is one of those interior BC ski areas that not enough people are familiar with. For some reason, its neighbors get all the hype. And that’s fine since it keeps the crowds down at Silver Star. But, anyone who’s experienced a pow day at Silver Star will be happy to explain what makes it so special. And a good place to start is its size. With 132 named runs, 2,500 vertical feet of relief, and 3,200 acres of skiable terrain, this is no podunk town hill. Instead, it’s a big, fun resort with a nice mix of terrain. On top of that, it’s easy to visit, there’s plenty of on-mountain lodging, and it’s only forty miles from the Kelowna airport.

The legendary James Niehues

If you are a skier or snowboarder, there is a good chance James Niehues has been your mountain guide. Throughout his 30 year career he has worked at the  smallest hills and the most expansive resorts in North America. He has left his mark in South America, Australia, Asia and Europe too. And even if you have never shared a bottomless powder day with him, he has always been close by.
