Blackcomb Glacier Ski Map

Blackcomb Glacier

Not many North American ski resorts can claim to have a glacier in their inbounds ski terrain, but Whistler Blackcomb isn't most ski resorts. The Blackcomb Glacier has long been a staple of skiing in the Whistler area. Located right next to the Horstman Glacier, the Blackcomb Glacier serves up skiing year-round. The Blackcomb Glacier is actually a British Columbian Provincial Park, so it’s protected, with a summer access trail that allows intrepid hikers to access it from the base area. James Niehues painted the Blackcomb Glacier back in 1993, right when a new wave in skiing, the new Canadian Air Force was being born on these slopes. Since then Blackcomb Glacier has played host to a myriad of epic skiing moments, captured both on film and in photos.

So, if you’re passionate about the history of skiing in the Whistler Blackcomb area, or the greater Sea-to-Sky corridor, this historic painting of the Blackcomb Glacier is a must-have. Niehues painted this Blackcomb Glacier ski map to aid skiers in their pursuit of fresh turns, but it still stands relevant as a celebration of what makes this part of the world so special.
