Mt. Hood Meadows in Mount Hood, Oregon
Painted in 2009
Mount Hood’s sheer magnitude means it plays host to several different ski resorts. And, while Timberline gets a lot of press for its summer operations, if you’re skiing Hood in the winter, chances are that you want to get to Meadows. Mount Hood Meadows is home to some of the most interesting terrain on Hood, from playful windlipped gullies to fun gladed trees and natural terrain. Mount Hood Meadows has 11 lifts that cover 2,700 vertical feet of skiing, spread over 2,150 acres. And, a great light system means that Mount Hood Meadows also offers night skiing, perfect for anyone getting off work who wants to grab a few laps.

The legendary James Niehues
If you are a skier or snowboarder, there is a good chance James Niehues has been your mountain guide. Throughout his 30 year career he has worked at the smallest hills and the most expansive resorts in North America. He has left his mark in South America, Australia, Asia and Europe too. And even if you have never shared a bottomless powder day with him, he has always been close by.
