Northstar in Truckee, California
Painted in 2000
Northstar is a behemoth of a mountain located near Truckee California on the shores of Lake Tahoe. It’s big, bold, and beautiful. Mount Pluto, which Northstar resides on, is a dormant volcano that helped shape the Lake Tahoe Basin. Just based on size alone, Northstar stands out, with a hundred named runs and almost 3,200 skiable acres. But Northstar doesn’t just rely on its size as a draw. It also has some of the best resort accommodations and extras in the Tahoe region. And they’ve developed on-mountain amenities as well, with seven world-class terrain parks, and a huge snowmaking system that ensures a great base to the snowpack. If you like smashing out lap after lap in the sun, Northstar is the place for you.
