Perisher Ski Map

Perisher Ski Area

The Southern Hemisphere has great skiing, and Perisher is here to remind you of that fact. Located in the aptly named “Snowy Mountains” of Australia, Perisher is actually the largest ski resort south of the Equator with more than 3,000 acres of skiable terrain. Perisher earned that distinction by combining four smaller resorts,  Perisher Valley, Smiggin Holes, Gutthega, and Blue Cow into one mega-resort. But Perisher doesn’t just rely on its size. They’ve also put a lot of resources behind developing resort infrastructure, with 47 lifts and an extensive snow-making system. Perisher is also home to an underground rack railway that makes getting to and from the slopes a breeze.

This painting from 1997 portrays a complete ski map of Perisher Resort. In classic James Niehues style, the artist carefully researched the mountain and surrounding landscape, studying reams of reference photos before he finally started sketching. The result is a stunning depiction of this gem of the Southern Hemisphere that's sure to be a conversation piece for skiing enthusiasts for years to come.
